There are some employer branding and HR professionals who still question the purpose of social media — to be, or not to be on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn? For those social media sceptics, below are some key facts from Social Media Today that should support the use of this medium within employer branding.
• Half of all Facebook users check their profile daily and close to one-quarter of users go into Facebook five times per day.
• Some 54% and 36% of marketers have gained new clients respectively via Facebook and Twitter.
• LinkedIn is the fastest growing professional network with two people joining every second. Currently, LinkedIn has some 200 million members and is an excellent channel to make new business contacts, find new candidates to hire and stay up-to-date on what competing businesses are doing.
With such a humongous audience on social media and accessing these channels frequently on a daily basis, HR professionals should see this as an ideal opportunity to expose their employer brand, connect to potential candidates and build long-term relationships.
