The infographic below shows where South Africa’s career-seekers want to work and what they want from an employer. In 2013, 33 285 students from 23 universities and 10,830 professionals took part in Universum’s employer reputation study. Top employers for business students are KPMG, South African Reserve Bank and Coca-Cola. For engineering students, the top employers are Eskom, Sasol and Tansnet. The list of the top 100 ideal employers of South Africa’s young potentials and experienced hires was released last week, February 14th.
– Male students expect to earn R 24 239 whereas female students want R 21 265 per month.
– Female professionals earn on average 33% less than their male counterparts
– Attractive employers are ones that provide professional training and development, leadership opportunities and secure employment.
– Students seek job security and stability, work/life balance and wish to be competitively or intellectually challenged.
