Stockholm, April 05th, Universum is proud to support global reforestation by once again partnering with the non-profit organisation One Tree Planted. Respondents of Universum’s annual CareerTest in Sweden helped donate 1,000 trees in Denmark.
Universum’s collaboration with One Tree Planted is very important to us. Giving back to the environment and contributing to a greener tomorrow is one of society’s highest priorities and an aspiration for many within our global University Partner Network. The One Tree Planted model appealed to us not only because of its brilliant simplicity and high impact, but also due to the organisation’s global reach which we found to be a perfect fit for our international presence.”
The objectives of this continued partnership include:
- Supporting future careers by supporting the environment
- Contributing to global reforestation efforts
- Raising awareness about the importance of ecosystem restoration
The partnership between Universum and One Tree Planted was designed to be a simple way for academic students and professionals to get involved in global reforestation. For every Career Test respondent, Universum donated $1 to One Tree Planted.
Our donation of 1,000 trees goes to the following project in Denmark, which will establish multi-functional woodland on marginal farmland in western Jutland. This woodland will be protected in perpetuity by the Danish Forest Act. The forests will increase carbon uptake, groundwater preservation, and nitrogen retention to mitigate the eutrophication of wetlands in the area. Biodiversity will be improved through the creation of a conservation area for the threatened hazel dormouse and the wooded areas will provide greater habitat for many species of birds and insects.
